Kiev by Day

Today I walked all over Kiev. Starting from my hotel, I took the bus to the Museum of the Great Patriotic War and visited the Motherland Statue. Being the fist visitor of the day, they were still clearing the snow, but seemed happy for a tourist. Then I walked through the park to Pecherskaya Lavra, visiting several of the Churches and the Micro Miniature Museum. From there, I headed into the main part of town via bus and metro with the help of a very nice soldier utilizing lots of hand signals. Walking around was easy with neat underground walkways to cross under the busy main streets. The food market (Besarabsky Rynok) was filled with really yummy things like Caviar and smoked meats. The evening flight to Tbilisi was quiet, and I received a lovely present from the Georgian Government, a bottle of wine.
